"George Bender was a native of Germany and when he arrived
in America he got lands in the Mohawk Valley of New York. He joined the civil war and was in Sir Johnson's first battle. He served till 1782 and settled in Cornwall, Ontario in 1789 He had two children Mary Bender married Barnabas Hart and Tunis Bender married Sarah (Sally) Bryan."
