MARTIN was in the Mohawk Valley N.Y. in the 1760s and 1770s:
Martin Alguire (son of Johannis by his first wife), married Catrina Eamer on Nov. 17, 1769 at Fonda, NY, Montgomery County. He lived at Johnstown until his land was confiscated in 1779, and was a weaver by trade. He eventually settled in Cornwall, Ontario, and for a brief period had joined the Royal Regiment in NY.


MARTIN and his wife were sponsors for the baptism of CATHERINE SCHUMANN, daughter of WILHELM SCHUMANN born Sept.15,1769 at Trinity Lutheran ch. of Stone Arabia N.Y.

MARTIN enlisted in the R.R.N.Y. (King's Royal Regiment of New York) on May 5, 1779 in the 1st battalion.
His roll number was 593 rank of Private
He served in Majors' company from 1781-1783
He had one son at that time.

Lived near Johnstown New York, when the Rebellion broke out and was in the march to enlist in service to the British Crown, when taken prisoner and held for 5 months. When he was released, he joined in 1779 and served until the end of the war. His losses included a hundred acres of tenant land in the Albany patent near Johnstown, New York, upon which he had cleared 10 acres, built a house, shop and barn and had owned 2 cows, 2 horses, 2 sheep, a weaver's loom and furniture. Claimed a loss of 63pounds sterling and received 45pounds sterling.]
